WhatsApp Privacy Settings

31st May 2021

The Royal Falkland Islands Police would like to inform members of the Public that WhatsApp has changed its privacy settings to include “everyone” by default. What this means is that people you don’t know can add you to a group without your knowledge. These people may include fraudsters and criminals who send scam messages etc. To prevent this from happening we recommend that you change your default settings on the WhatsApp as follows:
1. Go to WhatsApp.
2. Go into Settings. (3 vertical dots in the top right hand corner).
3. Go to Account.
4. Go to Privacy.
5. Go to Groups.
6. Change from “Everyone” to “My Contacts”.
